I recently tried out a feature in Gather Town that really helped me during a meeting, it’s called Talk in a Bubble. So, here’s the story. I was in a meeting in Gather Town, and you know how it goes. Sometimes you just need to have a quick side conversation with someone without interrupting the whole group. That’s when I gave this feature a shot. I clicked on someone’s avatar, and suddenly, we were in our own little bubble, chatting quietly while the rest of the meeting continued smoothly.
What is Talk in A Bubble?
When I first heard about “Talk in a Bubble,” I imagined it might be some kind of fun bubble-blowing game, like the ones I used to play as a kid with soap bubbles floating around. But as it turns out, it has nothing to do with that at all! Instead, it’s a clever feature in Gather Town that lets you have private conversations without disturbing others. Definitely not what I was expecting, but a pleasant surprise nonetheless.
Why is Talk in A Bubble Important?
Now, why is this important? Well, if you’re like me, you’ve probably been in situations where you needed to exchange a few words with someone without disrupting the flow of a larger discussion. Maybe you wanted to clarify something, share a quick idea, or even just check in with a colleague. With Talk in a Bubble and it’s like whispering in a crowded room. Only better, because everyone else can still carry on with their conversations, and they won’t hear much of what you’re saying.
How to Use Talk in a Bubble
Ready to have a quick private chat without interrupting the whole group? Here’s how you can do it with “Talk in a Bubble” feature in Gather Town.
Step 1: Start the Bubble First things first, find the person you want to talk to. Just right-click or double-click on their character. This will open up a little menu.
Step 2: Select “Start Bubble” In the menu, you’ll see an option that says “Start Bubble.” Go ahead and click on that. A semi-transparent bubble will appear around you and the other person, creating your private conversation space. It’s like your own little chat room, right in the middle of everything!
Step 3: Recognize the Bubble Once you’ve started the bubble, you’ll see a blob between you and the person you are talking to. This lets you know you’re in a bubble, and it helps others see that you’re having a quieter chat.

Join an Existing Bubble: Want to join a conversation that’s already in a bubble? No problem! Just right-click on any person in the bubble and select “Start Bubble.” You’ll automatically join their private chat.
Leave the Bubble: When you’re done with your bubble chat, you can leave in two easy ways. Either select “Leave Bubble” from above the Bottom Bar, or just walk your character away from the group. Simple as that!
A Quick Heads-Up: One thing to keep in mind—if you share your screen while in a bubble, everyone who could normally see you will still be able to see your screen. So, just be aware of that when you’re screen sharing!
I’m sharing this because I think it’s a feature worth knowing about if you use Gather Town. It’s easy to use and can be really helpful, especially when you’re in a busy virtual space. Plus, it’s a nice way to keep your meetings on track while still having those quick, private chats.
