Hi everyone! We all know that Gather Town has a vehicles feature. This feature is very convenient, and I use it a lot. With vehicles, I can move around the virtual space quickly, at least faster than walking. The not-so-good news is that the only free car provided by Gather Town is the go-kart. But the good news is that we can add custom vehicles!
Seeing the words “custom vehicle” got my design instincts going. I immediately started creating a new vehicle in Aseprite. I thought of all sorts of quirky vehicle designs I could add to Gather Town. But this time, I’m sharing a free car that I think many people will like.
What is the Free Car?
It’s actually a personal preference. Since I was a kid, I’ve dreamed of having a convertible car. It feels cool to drive around the city in such a car, while feeling the breeze on your face. But I still haven’t realized that dream (I hope it will be soon). So, why not create a free convertible car for Gather Town? Plus, if you drive convertible car, your avatar’s face will still be visible in the virtual space, right?
The car I created is bright yellow, maybe reminds us of Bumblebee from The Transformers. Can this car transform into a robot? We’re hoping Gather Town will offer a new feature for that. But for now, this free car will help us travel around the virtual space quickly and… of course, in style!
How You Can Get My Free Car Asset
So, how can you get this free car into your Gather Town space? It’s super simple, and I’ll walk you through the steps.
Download the Free Car Asset: First, I’ve made the asset available for free. You can download it from a link that I’ll provide. The car is ready to be added directly to your Gather Town space, so you don’t have to worry about any complicated setup. I’ve prepared two types of assets: the vehicle spritesheet and the vehicle idle image. The spritesheet is for the animated vehicle movements, while the idle image is for when the vehicle isn’t moving.
Upload the Cat to Gather Town: Once you’ve downloaded the asset, it’s time to bring the car into your Gather Town. Go to your Gather Town space, and you’ll find the option to upload custom vehicles. To add vehicles in Gather Town, make sure to do two things. First, upload the custom spritesheet to ‘Custom Vehicles Spritesheet’. After that, put the vehicle’s idle image in the ‘Custom Vehicle Normal’ section.
